Modern Foriegn Language

MFL - As a school the modern foreign language which is taught is French. Lessons are delivered throughout Key Stage 2 using the Rigolo scheme of work. This ensures that the required content of the National Curriculum is delivered to pupils in an effective and engaging way. Pupils work through the Rigolo 1 units in Years 3 & 4 before building on these skills in Year 5 & 6 with Rigolo 2. In addition the Rigolo scheme is complemented with some fundamental French phonic teaching throughout the key stage. Assessment is captured through the use of French passports to record lessons, baseline and end of unit activities and through videos to capture pupils’ conversations and pronunciations. Where possible meaningful links to the wider curriculum are made.
