Art

At St. John’s C of E (VA), Cliviger, we follow the National Curriculum Programme of Study for Art and Design.

Our Art and Design topics consider the children’s interests to give pupils the skills, concepts and knowledge necessary for them to express their responses to ideas and experiences in a visual or tactile form. It fires their imagination and is a fundamental means of personal expression.

As a school we follow the Kapow Primary scheme for Art and Design. Kapow gives complete National Curriculum coverage and is a progressive scheme of work from Reception to Year 6.  We combine this with our Adventurous Afternoons, where we make our curriculum personal and exciting for our children.

Art Long Term Plan

Journeying on a personal path with ourselves, others, the world and God. This is linked strongly to our Christian Values so we can live life in all its fullness.

What Art means to us at St. John’s, Cliviger…

We all take part in Art lessons throughout the year with every class completing three schemes of work each year.

At St.John’s, Cliviger, we believe that Art plays an important role in our school life. It allows us to express ourselves and take risks.

We invite a local artist into school, Lela Harris, to work with the children, with a focus on portraits.
