While we have the highest of expectations for our pupils within the classroom, this is only a part of the learning experience that we offer. We believe in providing a breadth of opportunities for our pupils that will give them the best possible foundations to carry forward into the next stage of their education.
At St John’s we bring learning to life through a host of visits and visitors. In the past year we have welcomed farmers, firemen, representatives from Guide Dogs for the Blind, artists and art historians into school, to name but a few.
Themed days are also a wonderful way to enhance learning and recently St John’s pupils have relished opportunities to experience a World Travel Day, RE Easter Experience Days, drama workshops linked to WW2 and visitors from other faiths. Visits have included trips to the Manchester Science Museum, Eureka, bring Yer Wellies and the National Football Museum.
Each year the Year 6 children take part in a week long activity-based residential visit at the Christian Mountain Centre and gain a great deal from the experience.

The children performed exceptionally well and were the winners of the Unity family.
